It was a huge project for sure! Listne to these thrilled homeowners..
Why This Crystal Lake Homeowner Called D’Franco Painting
Look, no one wants to be in this position: You’ve hired a general contractor. You’re partway into a big remodel. Things should be wrapping up. Instead, you’re picking up fast food bags off your floor and wondering when (or if) your painter’s going to show up.
That’s where this Crystal Lake homeowner found themselves. They were mid-remodel with another crew. But instead of progress, they got:
Trash left in the home
Food and drinks on their furniture
Painted trim that wasn’t supposed to be touched
Wall damage left unrepaired
Poor color matching
No communication
No timeline
No trust
Sound familiar?
That’s when they called D’franco Painting and Wallpaper!
We’re not just here to slap on a coat of paint. We’re here to help you love the place your in — both literal and emotional.
Here’s what we hear from frustrated homeowners all the time:
“I never knew when someone was coming.”
“They used the wrong paint color.”
“They painted things that weren’t supposed to be painted.”
“They left drywall damage and painted right over it.”
“There was no prep. No drop cloths. No cleanup.”
If that’s your story, you’re not alone.
I will say- we are not without a few jobs that did not go well, you can see and read them on our Google review page. While there are some companies that will pay to take down bad reviews, we welcome every single review, good and bad. Every review, ever email with feedback becimes training opportunities for us to keep improving. We never want to stop improving!! So- just being open- we cn make mistakes as well.. but we strive to fix them!
But I’ll tell you this — it doesn’t have to end that way.
How We Stepped In to Finish the Job the Right Way
Once we arrived, it was go-time. Our job wasn’t just to paint — it was to restore confidence and trust in the entire house painting and home improvement process.
Here’s what our team tackled:
✅ Painted all walls throughout the home ✅ Ceiling painting for a cohesive, polished look ✅ Drywall repair, including cracks and previous damage ✅ Painted wood windows and oak doors (black finish!) ✅ Metal ceiling beams got a clean, industrial refresh ✅ Wallpaper installations in:
A bathroom
A kitchen accent wall
The dining room ceiling (yes, the ceiling!)
✅ Monochromatic room designs, using one color with multiple sheens for that bold, high-end feel ✅ Floors were covered and protected at all times — because that’s just basic respect
Oh, and we talked, emailed, and talked to the homeowners. Every step of the way. David in sales, Daphne the Office Manger, and Chad our project Manager. Every day Chad was on site, I even stooped in along the way to check on the progress and get any feedback on how things were going.
What a concept, right?
What Made This Project Unique
Every project has its personality, but this one had flair:
🎨 The black-painted oak doors gave the home instant style and contrast. 🎨 The dining room ceiling wallpaper? That’s not something you see every day — and it turned out incredible. 🎨 We worked with monochrome themes, meaning walls, ceilings, and trim were the same color, just in different sheens (matte on the walls, satin or semi-gloss on the trim). It was bold, intentional, and elevated the space.
But more than anything, this was a job about trust.
They’d been burned once. We weren’t going to let it happen again.
Lessons Learned: What to Ask Before You Hire
Don’t want to end up in contractor purgatory like this homeowner did? Here are some questions you should ask before signing a contract:
“Who’s actually doing the work ?”
“Do you background-check your workers?”
“Will I know who’s coming and when?”
“How do you protect my floors and furniture?”
“What happens if the color is wrong?”
“What if drywall or trim needs to be fixed first?”
And maybe most importantly…
🛑 “Will you leave garbage and food containers in my home?” Spoiler alert: That should never happen.
