Cabinet Painting

Tired of how your kitchen looks and feels? Let us help you get the kitchen you want and deserve!

Paint Your Kitchen Cabinets!

You have Stained Kitchen Cabinets. Your tired of the look of the Oak, Maple or Cherry Cabinets. You are not alone. Most homes have one of these 3 types of cabinets. You want a new look and feel for your home. We can help!

Painting Kitchen Cabinets is the most affordable and fastest way to update your kitchen. With the skyrocketing cost of construction and materials, we can help you get the Kitchen you want that can fit your budget.

Important questions to consider with painting your cabinets:

  • Do you like the kitchen layout you have now?
  • Do you like the cabinet door style as well?
  • Will you be adding or changing Handles?
  • Do you want to have soft close hinges?
  • Are you wanting to get new counters?
  • Will you be getting new or different Backsplash or tile?
  • Is the flooring being changed?
  • Do you want the grain filled in your oak cabinet doors?

These are questions we ask during the paint estimate process. These questions affect the timing of when we can do the work (painting is last). These updates to your kitchen also affect the cost to paint your cabinets. For example if we are changing out your old handles for new handles- the time it takes to fill in the old holes adds to the time it takes to paint your cabinets.

Cabinet Painting is also the area of our business that we love the most and is the source for the most questions we are asked. To help you with your questions we have a FAQ about kitchen cabinets you can take a look at.

Our Process and Prep Work:
  • We will cover and mask all non painted surfaces
  • All hardware will be marked and removed.
  • We mark it so it goes back right where we found it.
  • Each door and drawer will get labeled so the also go back to where they came from
  • Using a cleaner and degreaser all surfaces get cleaned and scuff sanded
  • With a clean rag we wipe all surfaces clean
  • Every surface to be painted will be sprayed using Stix bonding primer
  • If you choose to fill gaps in the cabinets, we fill those gaps with caulk
  • There are places that may need to get filled from nails, or nicks which we also fill and repair
  • If needed we will use a shellac primer to block stubborn stains etc from bleeding through
  • Using 320 grit sandpaper we will sand the painted surfaces between each coat
  • 2 coats of primer
  • 2 coats of paint
Problems with Painted Cabinets:

We have done a blog article on this as well, (top 3 problems with painted cabinets) but here is a summary of that article and this question. Most issues take place because of the prep work.

  • If the items were not sanded or cleaned correctly there could be a issue with adhesion.
  • If the paint was not cured long enough it can peel off or get damaged if trying to clean it.
  • Using chemicals to clean painted surfaces- ONLY use vinegar and water or an approved floor finish such as BOMA
  • If the person painting uses a brush vs spraying you see all the marks
  • Leaving wet towels or rags on painted surfaces- big no no.
