Paint your Furniture!
Your looking at pieces of furniture in your home and long for the GHTV bright, clean and modern looking furniture. You are tired of the golden oak cabinets. Maybe the cabinet, table, chairs or bookcase is just worn and looks like it was in a war zone. I get it! We have them all as well! Lets take a peek at some things we did with some old furniture pieces to bring them into 2025. Lets Paint your Furniture!
Ways to update old furniture
When looking at an older piece of furniture, there are several things that were great in 1990 that just look aweful in 2025. Here are some things to consider to change out from old furniture to make them look updated and new;
- get a new color! Dont limit your self by what you can buy in a store- paint your furniture the color YOU waNt
- replace old hinges. Older hinges may look cool but do they work? If not then change them!
- Old handles or knobs? For pete- sake- get rid of those old wooden knobs! Get that furniture into the new centry with bigger, better handles.
- Get handles installed! Maybe you dont have handles or knobs and you have to grab a side or bottom of the door- STOP IT! get some handles on that thing!
- Does it have working shelves? if they are broke – fix them- it scheape than buying new.
- Install pull out shelves!
- Install wallapper in the back of a book case? Great way to bring in the new wave of decor
Turn a TV cabinet into a new Kitchen Island
One of the things we had in our home here in Huntley, was a older TV stereo entertainmnet Unit form the early 90’s. One shelf unit broke while we moved, one part didnt fit in our house, but the base unit was perfect solid oak!
We used it for some years until the thought of making it a cabient turned into a making a mobile kitchen isalnd!
So- no more honey oak!

So.. before and after- We took a honey oak cabinet, painted it white added moving wheels, added a quartz remnant from old world stone and we have a great addition to our kitchen!
Transform a Cabinet Hutch with Paint and Wallpaper
Here is a quick one- well kind of.
Take an old oak stained cabient hutch and paint it! Then add some wallpaper to your cabinets!
Painitng a cabient can be a fun family project as well- it also can be stressful and can be messy.
The keys to a successful cabinet painting job is;
- cleaning the cabinet
- removeing all old hardware before painting
- sanding the cabient before painting
- using a great primer!
- painting with a quality paint

Update your cabinet with new Hardware!
A quick way to uodate any cabinets- kitchen and bath included is changing or adding hardware.
